Our main task is to find an optimal solution, especially when it comes to key issues such as a uniform temperature distribution, shortened heating times and less stress / strain tolerance of the refractory material and the efficiency increase of the whole system.
 
As MEFKON is not associated to producers of refractory material or components we are therefore able to integrate highest-quality products from burner, control and refractory technologies into our systems.

LADLE AND CONVERTER PREHEATER AND DRIER

Vertical heating systems are used for preheating or drying ladles and converter.

Vertical preheating systems are used for high speed heating and soaking. These systems are often equipped with an air burner with the MEFKON 2-stage radiation recuperator or with an oxygen burner. Compared to a conventional air burner, a 2-stage radiation recuperator can increase the efficiency of about 10 - 15 %. An oxygen burner increases the efficiency of about 80 - 87 %.

Vertical drying systems are used for tempering bricks and for drying monolithic refractory lining. The emission-optimized tempering process is controlled by a very precise, program-controlled TWIN blower secondary air injection or oxygen injection for ladle drying. For an additional reduction of environment pollution ladles can be placed in a housing with rim suction system and post combustion inside the vessel.

Program-controlled secondary air injection insures exact temperatures for drying the monolithic refractory lining and ensures a temperature accuracy and constancy of +/- 5-10°C. Slow increase in temperature can be observed with an air burner or our new MEFKON combined oxygen-air-gas burner (MEFKON OAG Burner). This burner is highly efficient and characterized by best controllability, with a ratio control of 1:30 and low NOX-values.

Horizontal heating systems are used for heating up and soaking ladles and converter in maintenance position.

Horizontal preheating systems are often equipped with an air burner with a 2-stage radiation recuperator or with an oxygen burner. They are realized either as stationary unit or for several positions. Additionally the burner lid can be designed with maintenance doors for oxygen lancing.
